Why is ddr2 more expensive?

why is ddr2 more expensive than dd3? its so much more expensive that i want to get a new mother board just for the ram.

Supply/demand... More DDR3 gets made so its cheaper... (and it'll get cheaper if PC sales are crushed by a lack of HDDs, unless they reign in their production)

The same thing happened during the transition from DDR to DDR2. First, the new stuff is expensive. Then as the market matures, you have parity in the pricing. Then after production has swung to the new stuff, the old stuff becomes more expensive.
