ROM Drives Stopped Working

I run Windows XP Pro. I have a Benq DVD-ROM, Yamaha DVD Burner, and HP DVD Burner on my system. All of a sudden they stopped reading media. Windows XP detects them just fine, and claims they are working perfectly. But, they will not read or load media at all. How do I fix this?

Start by checking all connections. It is unlikely they all died at the same time, you can check the interface(s) on the board by trying a HDD drive on it.

I've tried several media. The drives all power and they show up in windows just fine. Windows even says they are functioning properly. I wonder if Alcohol 120 software when creating a virtual ROM drive somehow screwed up everything. The connections on the motherboard work fine.

Very possible. Have you tried uninstalling?
