Heya, folks. How's everybody doing? All good, I hope.

I recently got curious about dual-processor motherboards and wondered if anyone could tell me a bit about them. Is there a DDR3 dual-cpu mobo on the market now? If not, do the DDR2 dual-cpu motherboards still have any advantages over the newest mobos running quad and hex cores? If so, what?

Thanks in advance. :)

There are DDR3 dual MBs out there. This link is for DDR3 1333...

Overall these types of setups are reserved for servers because the cost is way high. Not much need for that level of processing for a typical workstation / gaming rig... Unless you are hosting a virtualized environment, or have a specific need for more cores, going with a good single CPU will be a better choice. Older technology using DDR2 will sacrafice a little performance and be a little cheaper, but still too much money over the cost of a powerful single CPU machine.
