Hello, i wish to upgrade my dad's computer for his birthday but i only have around a hundred dollars to spend and i was wondering what would be the wisest use of my money. I do not have a great knowledge of computers so if this is not enough information please inform me

He has a -
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
2.99 GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Nvidia Geforce FX 5200

To be truly honest with you $100 is just wasted trying to help that old thing. It really needs all new hardware. There is nothing there that $100 will help.
 
I don't think you can (or rather should) invest on hardware to boost performance.. May be you can get him a new case thereby enhancing the overall look of his setup.. It would also serve well while building up a new PC sometime down the line..
