If you mean Pentium dual core, than it is essentially a lesser core 2 duo. Typically dual cores only have half the cache, run at 800mmhz front bus and are typically clocked slower.

The newest Celerons are also Core 2 Duos, but with even less cashe.

In short they are all Core 2 Duos. In terms of features and speed Core 2 Duo > Pentium Dual Core (not to be confused with the P4 based Pentium D) > New Celeron.

All are socket 775 chips so all use the same motherboard.

So yes C2D are fastest, mostly due to the larger L2 cach, 1066 FSB as apposed to 800 and typically faster clock speed. At their heart they are all the same chip.
