Why not save some more money and go with the 955 or 965 and up the multiplier yourself. I guess the I5 760 would equal or best the 975 for $20 more. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/186?vs=191 but then again for the same price you could go 1155!
There is no comparison from AM3 to 1155 rough guess the intel wins by at least 50 percent. I7 wins by at least 30 percent core to core. AMD is waiting on Bulldozer but Intel will surpass it with thier 2 new planned sockets 22nm 2011(socket and the replacement for 1366.
Amd is cheaper though
I think think the 1155 socket is by far a better value, it over clocks better and takes heat better.
BTW a 4 core i7920 will wipe the floor with a 6core amd
Also this socket is gonna be mainstream replacement for 1366 soon
LGA 1356, also known as Socket B2, is an unreleased Intel microprocessor compatible socket which supports future Intel Sandy Bridge microprocessor. LGA is short for Land Grid Array.
LGA 1356 is designed as a replacement for the LGA 1366 (known as Socket B). LGA 1356 has 1356 protruding pins to make contact with the pads on the processor. Processors of LGA 1356 and LGA 1366 sockets are not compatible with each other since they have different socket notches.
I have no dang idea at all lol.. i have other threads going so i ended this one. I want to get something that is going to last 2-4 years but i dont know what is going to last. amd is cheaper but intel is better but since im not going 1155 intel is much more pricey. i have 440$ in credit at newegg i didnt want to go over that but if i ever want to sli my 580 i need to go intel otherwise sell my 580 and i dont want to do that. but if i go amd i allready have a amd mobo that is sli compatable i just dont like the mobo lol! or i can use my old cpu and mobo and buy another gtx 580 with the money dont know at all lol.
