What is the security key for wireless network

Hello,
I am with virgin and have wireless internet. I already have a server as other computers in the house. Have just bought a laptop and trying to get on internet. Says it needs a security key? Where would that be as I think that is different to a password

Your wireless router (which is usually connected to the dsl or cable modem via a network cable) has a WEP or WAP or WAP2 encription which was set up with a password. You need to set up your wireless adapter with this password.
