Hey guys!
I just wanted to ask a couple of things because I am in need of assistance.

I recently bought a XFX 5670 graphics card.
When I tried installing it, I would get no signal from the card itself.
After wasting many hours trying to update my BIOS, I decided to to focus on my power supply in which I switched from a old Dell Precision 360.

I remembered that the power supply only had 20 ATX power connectors.
I felt incredibly stupid when I found out that the 4 missing ATX power connectors are for powering the PCI-E slots.

I just wanted to clarify if am correct.

I ordered a replacement power supply from Newegg on Sunday.
This one,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817152028
It will be here on this Wednesday I hope.

The reason why I was spending a lot of time trying to update the BIOS was because I asked XFX customer support why I wasn't getting any signal from the card.
They simply said that my motherboard is not compatible with PCI-E 2.1 (HD5670 is PCI-E 2.1)
But, PCI-E 2.1 is backwards compatible with version 2.0 so I just think that they are full of BS..

So my main question is,
You do guys thing that my new graphics card will function properly when I get a new power supply with the 24 ATX power connectors?

Thanks for your time!

what motherboard do you have now? its a 20pin or 24pin? the ATI 5670 does not need any external power connection.

Dang!
I forgot to mention that I have a 24pin mobo!
It's a 24 pin mate.

And that is why I like the HD5670 so much,
Because it does not require much power.

fyi, don't ever buy cheap raidmax PSU. they are junk. the corsair will do the trick and is cheaper after the rebate or get the antec earthwatt unit

I thought about getting that Corsair,
But after seeing those reviews made me not want to look at it again.

I've heard bad reviews from Raidmax,
But from what I've seen,
Is people really pushing those power supplies.
For example, they run 5 HDD
Crossfire GPU's ect;

The one I ordered has a lot of great reviews.

Do you believe after I get my new PSU with the 24 ATX, my 5670 shall be up and running?

if its a pci-e 2.0 slot then you will be good. the corsair got very good reviews on hardware secrets and jonnyguru. i would not trust people's review on newegg.

Great!
That's a relief to hear that it does not matter what PCI-E version it is.
After all, I think that all just for marketing.

I've heard about JonnyGuru online, but I never got the time to look at his work.
I will check that out later.
Thanks a bunch mate!

And the reviews on Newegg seems pretty legit man,
