The main thing I'm looking to upgrade is my CPU since it is quite frankly, crap. I'm willing to upgrade the motherboard as well, if necessary.

I have the HP Pavilion Media Center a1624n Desktop PC, all of the hardware that comes with it as still, with a couple exceptions.
I have upgraded to an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT for my graphics card, some Rocketfish sound card from best buy that was most likely a waste of my money, and I have 3 gigs of ram now. Oh, and the PSU has 450 wat

Athlon 64 X2 (W) 3800+ 2.0 GHz is my processor, and an ASUS A8M2N-LA, or HP/Compaq motherboard name: NodusM3-GL8E if that's better.Anything I need to clear up or whatever input you guys have will be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm looking to use it for gaming mostly. Not hardcore, but a bit more than casual. Let's say about $300

Your motherboard and cpu are too old for upgrades

The 9800GT is not a bad card, you can save your money.

This videocard isn't bad, can be found for cheeper. It's quite a bit faster then your 9800
