Additional Comments: Quiet PC is possible. I prefer AMD to Intel, though I am not adverse to Intel if it proves to be better for applications like Adobe and animation rendering. I am interested in the hexa-core processors. If there is a cheaper graphics card configuration, or single card, that can handle high end illustrations and video animation, I am open to suggestions. This computer is intended for high end medical illustration/animation and gaming, as well as video game designing. If anyone should see an conflicts with what little I have now, please do let me know. Thank you.

Do I go with DDR2 or DDR3, and which brand? I like Cosair, but is there something better? For storage device I go with WD Caviar Black 1 TB. They've worked well for me so far. Or should I go with solid state drives?

First Thing is you have a Intel mobo with a AMD CPU ( Wont work less you get a big hammer ) < / joke
2nd you dont need to xfire 2 HD 5850 for the rez monitor

You will want DDR3 for your system corsair gskill ( are some good brands )

For the HDD ( with your needs for the PC you might look into a SSD drive for your OC and programs maybe a swap drive and a large storage drive.

Not a deal breaker at all. If one card can do the work, then so be it. MSI? I have an MSI with my current computer. It's an old, old, old Athlon 64 3500 with an mobo MSI NeoPlatinum 2. Hehehehe.

Looks like a good mobo. I don't think it would have trouble with the 1055 hexacore, right?

Damn straight! A PSP would be an upgrade! It's given me what it has been able to, but with the new games and CS4, it is showing that it can no longer keep up.
