hello. i just bought a linksys usb wireless adapter because my new home desktop didnt have built in wifi. i am trying to connect to my mom's network (she lives next door to me). she has a home computer that runs on cable/dsl connection. however, she purchased the 2wire modem from AT&T so that i can use wireless from my house. however, i cant pick up a steady signal.

any recommendations.

What's between your house and Mum's? If it's half a mile of fesh air, that could limit the signal reaching you. Two double thickness brick walls plus a good size alleyway would do the sme. Despite manufacturers' claims of 100 metres, etc., wireless isn't as good as they say. Put your wireless dongle on an extension cable and BlueTack it as high up the wall as you can - that could help. Also, find out which channel the router is broadcasting on and set the dongle to look for that channel.[/#000ff]
