I got my HD5850 a few months ago, and yet it has always seemed a bit less than I would expect. I recently benchmarked it with 3dmark Vantage, and it seemed to be rather low. It also only pulls about 20 fps in FFXIV and 40 in WoW. Here's what I got

My system:
Intel Core2Quad@2.83(stock fan/heatsink)
XFX HD5850 765 GPU, 1125 Memory(stock cooling)
Gigabyte EP43-UD3L
8GB Corsair DDR2 800mhz
Intel X-25M 80GB SSD, WD blue 500GB HDD, Samsung 1TB HDD
Striker 7.1 audio
Ultra X-Blaster case

Are these scores typical, or is there a bottleneck I can remove? Anything to clear this up would be nice.

Thanks

Are you running the latest drivers? what PSU?

its hard to say, since vantage is a synthetic and not something to rely on. you need to run some game benchmarks. the CPU at stock speed may be a minor bottleneck, but with the results given its hard to spot a problem. ff14 is a performance hog anyway.

Run stalker COP, Crysis or Metro 2033. looking at the results above it seems to be performing normally though.
