My sony vaio vgn-a270p died

Help, I tried changing the battery which has worked before. It is plugged in, the green light is on the box but it does not seem to be transmitting to the computer. Now what. I called Sony and their answer is send it in. I can't afford to be without this one.

Make sure your battery is in correct. Sure, the green light is on, doesn't mean no electricity will flow though. Also, there may be damage to the battery as well.
