Question regarding auto memory timings

I have G.Skill F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM and the Auto timings on my MoBo show 9-9-9-28 when the timings are (per spec) 8-8-8-24.

Should I change the setting to manual and correct it? At the top of the bios it identifies the chips correctly (saying it is DDR3-1600 8-8-8-24) but below where the timings actually are it says the other 9-9-9-28.

Thanks for the help!

  1. Yes you should change the Memory timings in the BIOS, and set the manual voltages recommended by the Manufacturer too. Also, you can operate your memory @ 1333 MHz and Lower Voltage and Timings, Lower Timings = better performance.
    So you're fine with both, 1333 MHz CL7 or 1600 MHz @ CL8.
  2. Depending on your mobo you can eventually set you memory Kit to XMP in the Bios. In doing so the mobo will automatically set you memory profile to best performance.
