Good Power Supply?

I was just wondering if this was a good power supply. All I will be running off of it besides my stock PC (an HP a6203w desktop) is an ATI 5570 video card that I have. I will be keeping this PSU as well for when I do my new build in the fall. I was just wondering if this is a good over all PSU or if I can get one better for the price (or up or down 10 bucks)

I know a lot of people if not all say buy off of newegg, but at the moment, I have no PO box, and the place I live at (trailer park) the mailboxes are Fubar'd so I do most of my shopping at stores. (also I am paranoid about the DOA/RMA reviews on products on newegg).

Thanks.

(also I have a threat on the graphics card area about the ati 5570 being able to run off of my current bestec 250watt without trouble, etc) check it out, it is called base/budget upgrade.

You only buy that budget power supply if you're planning on buying a decent one later on.

The Radeon HD 5570 only draws a maximum of 3.25 Amps from the +12 Volt rail under full GPU load so it's really no surprise that your Bestec 250 Watt PSU is able to handle it.

Oh, it should be able to handle it? From what I've heard on here, and read, I have around 160 to 170 watts efficiency on it, with like 14 amps on the 12v, according to these links

I just don't want my comp to fry or blow up. As it has to last me until the fall. I can't really afford a new PSU but, if it has to be done then so be it.

That psu is far from the best i would try another store that carries Antec,OZC,or Corsair CSX units.

It's alot better then the 460w Cooler Master though.

Okay, is there a particular reason you chose this one? I am trying to learn about power supplies, and try my BEST not to look at the negative 1 or 2 egg reviews.

Okay, but what about the negative reviews? Just bad products you think? Defects?

Also, I was planning on keeping my computer on 24/7 as I do now, should that be a problem?

I would also like your opinion on these two cards, they are both the 5570, which is cheap and all I really need until my fall build, but I dont THINK I need a low profile card. It is a desktop, HP, a6203w, NOT a slimline, but not a HUGE tower either. It is about 16 inches tall and 6 or 7 wide.

The CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 CMPSU-430CX is in the process of being replaced by the CMPSU-430CXV2 no doubt to address the reliability issues.

The full height PowerColor AX5570 should fit and work fine. It's an ATI reference design. If you want to pay extra for a low profile ready card that choice is left up to you.

It is for gaming, but, I wasn't going to get that card, due to three things. One the 5570 and the 5670 seem very close in all benchmarks I have seen, the 5570 I was going to get is 1gig of memory, they both have the same number of stream processors, the 5570 even has a higher effective memory clock, and that 5670 has about 10 or 11 reviews that were defect/broken/busted/RMA and then the RMA was busted.

The second reason is, I don't do a LOT of gaming and I'm building a new rig in the fall that will feature a 6xxx series card and a quad core proc.

Thank you for the post though and opinion.

Also, to the other previous post, why the mention of the CX430? Just curious.

Just to lay it out, I have 140 bucks (american), that is to include shipping, tax, all of it (not rebates because I have heard they dont always come through) Is the powercolor 5570 and that Antec Earthwatts 430 my best bet for bang-for-your-buck performance?

It is going into an HP a6203w desktop, 4 gigs of ram, 2.3ghz 4400+ dual core amd athlon 64x2 proc. with no fan in it besides the processor fan/heatsink (although it has an area of mesh that looks like a fan could be mounted, not sure, new on this stuff.)

That one will not fit in my case, I only have one slot, not two, it appears that one takes two, and I do not need that strong of a card when I will just be doing my own build. Please read my above posts about the money I have available, as well as that I am NOT a big gamer. Thank you.
