Hello,
I have an Athlon II X3 440 rev C3. I am planning to buy Asus M4A78LT-M. but there is no official word on the support of this CPU. Does anyone know if there will be any problem after I install the CPU on this mobo?

Thanks. I have bought the mobo. It's dec. '10. Detected the cpu. Unlocked the L3 without any tweaking. I'll try bios update and voltage tweaks later to find out if the 4th core could be seen anywhere.

I am away from my machine right now. :-(
This weekend I'll get a chance to experiment.
Specs are too budget oriented- Athlon II X3 440, Stock cooler, Asus M4A78LT-M, Corsair XMS3 2X2GB 1600 MHz CL9, XFX Radeon HD 4670 1GB DDR3 DVI & HDMI, local branded 450W PSU, ATX tower local make, LG DVD burner, Seagate 40GB PATA, 80GB SATA 1.5G, LG 15" CRT etc.
Later plans- 17" LED with fine pixel pitch, Cooler Master Hyper 101A, a chassis fan, WD Green 500GB, APC Back-UPS 500VA etc.

Stock cooler won't allow massive overclocking with 3 cores turned on. So I tried 1st with cores 0 and 1, next with cores 0 and 2, with CnQ, C1E and ACC disabled. RAM timings were auto, and smart fan feature was disabled. HT and NB multi X7. I was able to attain 257X15 with Vcore 1.38125 and LLC 0%. Prime95 stability of 20 mins. I'll do a thorough stress test later. And about the graphics card, I still play older games if I get the time for gaming at all.
P.S.- No 4th core found even at 1.5 Vcore with 0% LLC. I didn't risk more. And voltage bump wasn't too conducive for overclocking of this chip.

You are a saviour to lots of people, including me. But considering myself an enthusiast, I nowadays get very little time to attend the forum. I'll surely increase my involvement.
