hi i recently bought a whole new PC, and ordered my CPU last, when i realised i had spent almost all of the budget (a lot of it on the three wal sli gtx 580), i bought this AMD sempron:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

but i am hardly getting 40 FPS, in games like BFBC 2, this is not an issue with other people with the samer GPU,

do i need to quad SLI my rig by buying another gtx 580, or is this a CPU issue/ mobo issue, im really not sure

thanks,

2500k??, my parents gave me a budget, and i heard that the GPU makes all the differencce when it comes to gaming performance, so i went all out on the GPU, i never thought the CPU affects gaming, does it have much/any effect on gaming??

Not sure if serious.but trade one 580 or sell it and buy a phenom 1090t

Tri-SLI GTX580 + Sargas 140 = Super bottleneck
As Psycho has said, save for a Thuban and use 1 video board for now.
It is very silly to have that setup or was this a joke-thread?

I agree with everyone else about the CPU, but I still think your fps should be at least a little higher. Have you enabled SLI in the Nvidia control panel?

Assuming you're still within the RMA period, I would suggest returning one of the 580s and the Sempron for refund, and purchasing a much more powerful CPU. A nice Phenom II X4 975 or an X6 would work wonders for the remaining two 580s in SLI.

I couldnt even imagine using a sempron. LOL it would be like going back into the stone age. I agree, I would sell one card and the CPU or RMA and get your money back, purchase a 1090t, overclock it to 4GHz, and use the rest of the money for an SSD. 2 GTX 580 are enough for any game that is out and any game that is coming out for a while, there is no need for 3 other than to say you have 3, and some monster benchmark scores.

This has got to be a joke. LOL

I'm thinking this.

Try to unlock the Sempy into a flux capacitor.
March 10, 2011 6:30:48 PM

Wow they gave you a budget but they were willing to buy 3 GTX 580's? I would return one of the GTX 580's and get a good P67 motherboard and the i5 2500k or i7 2600k. 3 GTX 580's is overkill..What res are you playing on?

At the very least, unlock that Sargas to a Regor (Google it, you'll find it!)

even the 5870 dropped to 170usd the other day. Clever from nvidia if they drop it to 399 with the release of Amds 6990 card

yeah i love my 5870gpu but it's in my laptop lol Asus G73, but im really curious what the price will be on the GTX 570's...hopefully $250 :)  2 GTX 570's in SLI are very fast...I don't see the GTX 570 staying at $350 if the 580 is dropping to $399.99...
March 10, 2011 6:48:01 PM

hi my current monitor is this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

and it isnt a joke, im pretty much a noob at this stuff, my friend had to put the computer together for me, so i should trade ome of the 580's in for a what? on the AMD website it says that 1100T is the best one available. i really should have checked before buying =/ just thought GPU=graphics processing unit=good gaming.
March 10, 2011 6:50:33 PM

this is the GPU i bought (x3 of them):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

if i sell one i will get around $470 according to newegg support, can i get a really good CPU for that price? (it says socket AM3 on the box and support for 125W cpu, i think thats all that it says for CPU)

March 10, 2011 6:53:11 PM

GPU does equal good gaming, it's just that you need a CPU that can keep up. BTW, don't go with a Phenom II x6 1100T, the extra cores don't make a difference in gaming. A Phenom II x4 970 Black Edition would be a good choice, and the best choice would be to RMA the motherboard too and get a P67 motherboard and a i5-2500K.
March 10, 2011 6:55:15 PM

Yes you can get a good cpu and motherboard for that price..

I bought my i5 2500k $179.99 at Fry's Electronics since they do price matching with microcenter. Paid the extra 2 year exchange warranty on the motherboard and cpu for extra $40 so it's like i got the i5 2500k for regular price with a 2 year warranty. You should check your local component stores to see if they have that cpu and if they do price matching.

For the $470 you'll get for returning the one GTX 580 you can get a P67 motherboard AND an i5-2500K.
March 10, 2011 7:02:42 PM

and i currently have 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram (thats what it says on the box anyways.) oh and it has a logo that says corsair.

ok thanks, was getting worried about a new CPU, intel, motherboard, i dunno, but ive ordered another GTX 580, and my friend says he will order a new quad sli motherboard for me he said all i have to do is order this CPU:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

so everythings ordered, hopefully i can play Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars in really high detail at around 45-50 fps now, that would be really cool.

thanks all for your help!
March 10, 2011 7:15:06 PM

First of all. BFBC2 require core 2 duo 2.4 GHz+ to run , and it is recommended to play on quad core cpu to get 100% performance. It doesn't matter you have Triple 580 or even newer x2 590(quad sli)+ 8 GB DDR3 RAM. If you cpu can not handle the processing code from game, it will slow everything down. My Q6600 (quadcore) at 3.6 ghz+ ATI 5850( probably equal too GTX 460) got 57 FPS stable at max setting . Your setting would probably get 150 + FPS but too bad your cpu is not quadcore or even duo core.

BFBC2 requirement = 2.4 Ghz duo core, you only have 2.7 Ghz. you need another 2.1 Ghz to run the game stable. Better sell one of your GTX580 and buy a Intel quadcore processor or AMD. Probably at 2500k processor or 2600k model and overclock to 4.8 Ghz 4cores.

It is only 200 $ for 2500k and 300$ for 2600k.
March 10, 2011 7:15:14 PM

unbelievable !! 3 gtx 580 and a sempron ?? that must be a joke. ja ja but well I agree with all other posts before mine. sell one gtx 580 or RMA and get an AMD Quad Core 970 cpu only If you plan to game or for multitastinkg get an AMD 6 core CPU.

hey bnot!(or b if you prefer) Swap out the Phenom II x2 or the Athlon IIx4 that you got in this thread a year ago:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/276339-28-best-budget...
for the sempron you have now!

Or get a new CPU and follow your own advice from this thread:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/300827-28-phenom-trip...

Or return everything except one GTX580 and swap the GTX580 for the GTS450 you have in this system!

OH, and if it a very useful thread why would you give some BS advise about getting another 580 for quad SLI, unless you are the on with the bugmenot account so you could give yourself a BA.
