5870 crossfire

I just got my second 5870 now in crossfire is it normal for the first gpu to run at 98% activity and the second at 0%

Crossfires enabled when i put my second card in it just automatically installed it for me!

windows 7 pro 64 bit installed it automatically

You have to upload screens to a site like imagehost first.

Are you running in windowed mode or full screen?

I ran in windowed so I can see gpuz and ccc while playing still no activity on second card?

Neither Sli or Crossfire works in windowed mode (or so I read).

Get a program like 3d mark vantage or 3d mark 06 and run it full screen both with and without crossfire on and you'll see it's working, hopefully.

ok 3d mark is downloading but i noticed that in windowed mode I get like 175 fps res 5 and full screen it can hit like 340 fps it gotta be working then I would assume?

It'll be working, but try out 3d mark for extra peace of mind.

Ive never used it b4 what test do I run or is there just a monitor and log or something

Just run it, watch a few demo's then you'll get a score at the end.

crossfire/sli only works in full screen as they mentioned.
If you have dual monitors, put gpu-z on the second monitor.
If you lose full screen focus on your game, learn to use the alt-enter command to bring it back. Everyone forgets that one.
Second with msi afterburner you can select what goes on OSD, I put fps,gpu1 temp,%load , same with gpu2 .

ok i tried to run 3d mark went through the gpu tests when it got to cpu test it got 0-1 fps then locked up and restarted??

xfx 650w modular how hot does the cpu get when running the cpu test? its a phenomiix4 965

ok if i turn on prime 95 it cuases my cpu temp to climb until the pc shuts off, whats too hot for this cpu i have it set to shut off in bios at 65 c also in hardware monitor it shows my cpu at 3500 mhz and its only a 3.4?

ok I let 7 of the test complete cpu got up to 79c never hit 80 then bounced between 76 - 79. i'm gonna try 3d mark again see what happens

OK so I played res5 and activity on the second gpu i could catch at like 3% somtimes switcing back and fourth plus it heats up so I'd say its working, nest thing is I turned vsync on and my first gpu went form 98% to like 27% activity. My next question is if vsync takes my fps from like 200 to 300 down to 60 whats the point of crossfire? 1 of my 5870's blows that away?

I dont have any other games yet, Another question Ive seen countless forum post on this do I need 1 or 2 crossfire bridges?
