Hi,
I'm an FPGA design engineer using Xilinx ISE software to simulate, synthesis, and route my logic designs. Some of these designs can take hours to run so it would be very useful to have the fastest CPU and system possible.
My problem is I don't know which benchmark(s) on Toms Hardware to use as a reference so I can choose the best CPU for my type of application. I can see that different benchmark tests run better on different CPUs.
It would be cool if there was a new benchmark that actually ran a sample FPGA design on the Xilinx ISE software. The software is free (Webpack) and I could provide a sample design to run.
Anyway, does anyone have experience with choosing and identifying the best CPU for running FPGA software?
Thanks,
John Campbell
