HTPC 1080P ATI 5xxx

Im looking to make this a 100% non gaming HTPC I want bit streaming
I know little of the bare minimum requirements for this
will be using an AMD x2 4400 2 GB of
ddr2 6400 ram 500 GB HD what ATI 5xxx card can I use for highdef/blueray playback on the cheap

HD Vid and audio over the HDMI ?

The HD 4xxxx series does not have bit streaming.

The HD 5450 could do the job. But the HD 5550 / HD 5570 scored a little better in terms of overal video quality scores for DVD and Blu-Rays. I'll see if I can dig up that review.

However, at a certain point "visual quality" becomes subjective as to what actually looks better.

^I think it was the Anandtech review that you are referring to.

The HD5450 is ok for HTPC use but, as pointed out in the review above, lacks the muscle to properly do vector adaptive deinterlacing. HD5550 and above have no problems.
