Coretemp extremely high

this cant be right coretemp history showing a high of 233c normal use runs around 50 - 60 ive never physically seen it hit this temp it only happens when i close the laptop does anyone have any advice on this hp laptop dv6 i5 @ 2.67 1 gb ati windows 7

Those temps cannot be accurate, because if they were you're laptop would be a pile of smoldering slag at this point. Try updating to a newer version of coretemp or using a different program like realtemp. You said that this issue only happens when you close the laptop, right? If so it's probably just some kind of hardware quirk.

i figured going to try real temp we'll see what happens

i downloaded realtemp the numbers now seem right although i still hit some low 90s while gaming

The low 90 temps seem believable, although they are a little high. You may want to try proping the laptop up in order to get more airflow underneath.

I'm looking at a belkin cooling pad to bring the temps down getting it tmw. Well see what happens
