Low Frame Rates on radeon hd 5870

Just bought a studio xps 9100 came with windows 7 64 bit, 9 gigs of ram, intel i7 running at 3.20 ghz and the hd 5870. in most games my fps stays at around 50 if i put on high graphics is that normal?

No, imo you should have better performance.

Have u updated ur drivers to the latest version?

ya have catalyst v 10.9 and drivers version 8.7, and the game i notice it on the most is dragon age origins using fraps tells me im anywhere from 42 to 50 fps

Hmm looking at benchmarks with a 4GHz i7 and and 5870 u should deffenatly get higher FPS.

How high did u put ur AA?

Did you turn vsynch off when you tested? Under what settings, what games, and what fps?

i turn vsynch off either way i should have prolly about 60 no? 60hz screen, also my resolution is 1920x1080, as far as AA in what the gpu or the game? either way in catalyst i have 8x and same in game.

Right click on CCC-this lets your games,apps apply IQ settings, which is what you want.

im more interested in using my card at full capacity, i mean it really should according to specs and the amount i paid for, anything else that may work?

Overheating, and also did you buy the GFX card seperate if so are you sure your PSU can handle it? and its not just a cheap brand?

it all came with the pc, studio xps 9100 the gpu stays at about 50 degrees c, and cpu at 40 ish

I don't know what that statement means ?
Are you referring to you putting 8X AA on in CCC ? If your not willing to test and provide more details, games, settings, results, how are we supposed to help you.

First off, that AA setting is a bad idea. You use CCC to FORCE AA in rare cases where the game does not have its own implementation.
A example is Starcraft II, anything over 4xAA brings AMD cards to their knees.

my aa settings are set to use application settings, i have AI disabled and mipmap to max
