What things should I look for in a new laptop?

Ok, first off I'm not wanting to spend more than $1,000 after rebates on a
new laptop. Right now CompUSA has a HP

that look pretty good for the money. I want at least 40 gig hard drive and
512 meg of RAM. I know the new speeds of the Celeron M are different from
previous clock speed standards so I'm not sure how that compares with AMD 64
type processors. I want a CD writer/DVD combo and at least a 15 inch
display. I'd like to have at least 3 USB 2.0 ports as well. Card and media
reader slots are not necessary either. Anyone else have a suggestion?
