Z68 Help

Hey pretty new to building computers. Mainly using it for college gaming and media. Just wondering which motherboard base was best for gaming? Z68 or x58 and what boards do you suggest for each? I currently am planning on pairing:

ASRock Z68 Pro Gen3 with i5 2500k sandy

Any ideas? should i stick with the ASRock or is there a better z68 board? Thanks

X58 is older generation, used for the previous 1366 sockets and i7-9xx cpu's. It is replaced by X79, for sandy-E and is very expensive.

Z68 is by far the best platform for normal desktop users and most gamers.

Your pick should be about as good as it gets. ASROCK is a good value brand.
