Is there any downside at all to getting the 6870 on the morning it comes out? I have little patients and been having to wait for 2 months for this card. Also I plan to buy my card on newegg, anyone know what time they will go on sale(6 am, 9 am, 12pm)? And how long will it take to be sold out? Will all the 6800 cards be sold out within the hour of being listed, day, month, etc.? Is it a bad thing that I'm going to be getting the refrence design on the 6870?

Remember 5xxx cheap to begin with and then escalated in price! They will sell out fast. Some people prefer reference!

Don't buy it... Or at least I wouldn't recommend it. Wait until reviews come out then buy it. Even if it means waiting for them to come back into stock. Reference designs have improved, but it depends on which one you'll get. There are the single slow designs, dual slot, and a dual slot that is like the DirectCu design. Of course I'd recommend the Asus DirectCu model since iit should only be a couple dollars more than the ref. design (if it follows 5850 design pricing) and DirectCu has really made a rep.

Is the 6870 DirectCU coming out at launch, or only the 6850 DCU?

Actually, the weird part to me is why there isnt supposed to be DCU 6870's yet.
