Unsure of whether or not to purchase a sound card, but I need a good pair of headphones for music (electronic, house, alt rock), and gaming (BFBC2, hearing footsteps, explosions, soldiers cursing, etc) .... not gonna take these headphones outside, too cumbersome, imo, so looks don't matter. Don't care if I go over budget by a couple, I remember I went cheap on my last build, and I regret a lot of it.

This is what i'm thinking of getting, after a little research. I've got no experience in sound, so I need some others opinions on my choices o_o

Sound Card???:
HT | OMEGA Claro Halo 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card w/ a built-in HI-FI Headphone Amplifier

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... = $200

or

HT | OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card = $80

Headphones:
Sennheiser HD555 Professional Headphones with Sound Channeling : leaning towards this

Another friend also recommended astro headsets .... anyone got personal experience with em? they kind of remind me of razer and other branded stuff ... that usually arent worth it ... hmm

I would avoid the Corsair water cooler and go for a cheaper coolermaster hyper 212 for $30.

Sound card is unnecessary for these uses.

With the savings from the sound card and cooler you can get a better GPU. Either a GTX 570 or AMD 6900 series

I'm not sure about the headphones

Best solution

Astros are the best CONSOLE headsets.
the problem is the premium your paying for them. you also shouldnt be buying trittons without a mixamp, so youre paying $250.00 for the entire thing.

Sennheiser makes my favorite PC Headsets, but your still paying a crazy premium for it.

my second favorite company whether it be console or PC is Tritton i love there headsets because there not outrageously priced and you dont the annoying buzzing noise that comes from turtle beaches.

^^ Amazing.
sound cards are usually uneccesary unless youre an audiophile.

Yes, I decided not to go with the sound card or headphones, went with my old build, and just gonna buy some games to play with the money left over ^^
