I have an AMD Athlon 64 3800 on an MSI board with an AM2 socket. The mobo video craps out and even locks up an external video card. So, can I move my AMD Athlon 64 3800 to an ASUStek M2N68-AM_QVL mobo with socket AM2+. It looks like the ASUS is compatible with that processor, but I see a lot of questions on the net about AM vs. AM2+.

MSI K9NBPM2-FID mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3800 processor
DDR2 PC6400 memory (2x 512)

Thanks in advance

An AM2 CPU will work in an AM2+ socket. Not an issue. However, to ensure best results when you move to the new config, install a clean installation of your operating system (I assume you are running some version of Windows).

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I did the transfer and it works fine same memory same cpu, new ASUSM2N68 mobo.
Your advice gave the confidence that I was right. Now if I could just find all my old files in my new Win7 installation.
Good Advice. :pt1cable:
