So I am in the market of looking to build part of a new system, mainly MOBO, CPU, and RAM. Currently I have a q9300, xfx 5850, 850w PSU, 750i EVGA mobo, 8 gb of g.skill ram (ddr2 800). I am looking to do light gaming (possibly more depending on my time availability). Games I currently play are SC2, HON, Amnesia, and TF2. I might play future games if they look good as well. Here is what I have currently looked at, I am not trying to spend a lot of money, but if it is definitely worth it I will consider it.

CPU: i5-760 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)
For $5 more than the 750 plus free shipping, it seemed like no contest. I don't plan to OC my computer so the 2.8 is also a nice bonus.

MOBO: Biostar T5 XE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)
for $115 plus free shipping this board seemed to have decent features, can do crossfire or SLI which is nice since I have a 5850. As I mentioned, I am not looking to OC.

RAM: This is where I am slightly struggling. I know that I should at least 4 gb of RAM, I currently have 8 because I was given 4 extra from my friend who didn't want them. I currently am running Vista 64bit, might get a copy of 7, but that is not guaranteed. I was considering the G.SKill Ripjaws 1333 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) since it was relatively cheap, but I am not very good when it comes to RAM.

Any suggestions (especially about ram) and do you think 4gb of ram is enough?

Hi, have you tried OC your current CPU?

You have a pretty nice set up and I don't think it would be worth it to upgrade to the LGA 1156 platform.

But if you insist on getting a new rig my advice would be to at least wait until sandy bridge comes out.

Well my setup is nice, however, my mobo might be crapping out and I am waiting my final test to fix it on monday, so I figure if I do need to buy a new mobo, I might as well sell my cpu and memory and just upgrade to something newer. When does sandy bridge come out?

Sandy bridge comes out in the beginning of January. I highly recommend waiting.

I'll definitely look into it, thanks for the heads up, haven't had time in a while to research with finals.
