Was reading a review on the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme and in the review they had a bit about Why do I want 32GB of Memory?

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/48277-asus-x79-rampage-iv-extreme-socket-2011-motherboard-review-18.html

And they mentioned RAM caching and the results where apparently outstanding.

Anyone have experience with RAM caching or recommend any good RAM caching programs if you think its worth it, so far I am leaning to (SuperCache5).

I am curious about this and want to learn more since i will be having 32GB in my new system that i am building.

Any info, suggestions, opinions appreciated. And any other useful ways to use the spare RAM are welcome.

I was also curious and after seeing your post I decided to give it a try. I downloaded RamDisk found here http://memory.dataram.com/products-and-services/software/ramdisk. It is a free utility (up to 4GB).

My objective was to see if it would compile my game emulator more quickly having it all stored in ram. I also wanted to test my emulator save times.

My findings with my limited testing was my compile times and save times were identical to my mechanical hard drives (+/- a couple tenths of a second). *shrugs* Perhaps the rest of my system could not fully utilize the speed or my application just didn't benefit, it simply made little difference. Then again I could have done it all wrong :kaola: .

I would be interested to have other chime in with their experiences.
