I have an old Intel D865PERL motherboard with an Intel P4 3.2G processor.
The system has just died after 5 years of faithful thrashing at my unmerciful hands :)
I want to pass it on to my wife to use, but obviously I need a new motherboard and processor.
The graphics card is quite new, under 1 year old, an AGP Gigabyte 5670.
I have 4G RAM in it as well.
What is the best board and processor to buy for this machine simply to get it working to a reasonable level for 'she who must be obeyed'?

No agp video slot on that one. Here's another one from ebay uk: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASUS-P4V800D-X-478-MotherBoard-Intel-PCI-E-AGP-NEW-/320796855194?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item4ab0fb8b9a. It has both agp and pci-e video slots, but it's a full size atx, which may not work in your case, and has no onboard video. For more choices in the usa, look for 865G boards in pricewatch.
