My q9550 is getting a 5.3 index rating after windows 7 reinstall

im having trouble with my cpu my pc is dying when i restart it says cpu thermal trip ive recntly formatted my pc and installed windows 7 again but now my qaudcore q9550 gets a rating of 5.3 on my old windows it got a 7.1 what can be the problem and im lagging in balck ops ive never lagged before but suddenly started why plz reply

Thermal trip means you have an overheating problem. That would also explain the lower scores and framerates. Did you recently remove and replace the CPU? Is you CPU fan still working? Is your thermal paste still in good condition?

ye i also thaught the overheating was the prob thank u very much and yes my thermal paste is almost wiped of my cpu fan is working fine but its a stock cpu cooler i am buying an cooler master v6 gt tomorrow

no i was not connected to the internet at that time what are the possible malfunctions and my specs are 21" screen 9600gt nvidia gpu dg31pr motherboard and 4 gig ram case is a cm storm scout plz help what can i check in my bios

it does not show qaud core in my bios it says my cpu is em64 capable

My Q9550 gets 7.3.First check task manager to confirm that all 4 cores are shown.Then go to win7 power setting and set high performance.Did you install the chipset,lan and sound drivers after format?

im buying a better cpu fan tommorow should i ? and when i buy tht i get thermal paste with it when i siad my thermal pate is wiped off i mean its totally off my stupid friend wiped it of by mistake

No thermal paste is the answer then. That is why everything is happening. A buffer must be in place between the CPU and the heat sink.

really well my old cpu im using it at the moment is rated a 5.4 and my ram is 5.5

ok but i think 5.4 is a good score for a core 2 duo e4500

why the realtek sriver was not installed in the beginning and still had the prob
