4870 and 4890 compatability

The company fxf replaced a faulty 4870 i was using in crossfire with a 4890. Is the 4890 compatible with the other 4870 card? is there a table or some source i can look at to find out? from what i have found so far it looks like yes they are compatible in crossfire however, i would like a second opinion.

If you have temperature issues, downclock the 4890 or sync your clocks with 4870 speeds in windows with msi afterburner or whatever software you use.
