Different cards for different purposes. I run fx 580's and a couple fx4800's at work...they are workstation cards for AutoCAD. My gtx 470 out performs them for gaming though. What 3d modeling program are you using?
i run 3ds max, now in 9th version, n perhaps ill upgrade in latest version later.
im realize that geforce is purposed for gaming and quadro for 3d modeling. but, in my case now i'd use 3dmax still in study and perhaps it will handle medium poly, not in really professional purpose in really huge poly.
as my tight budget, (approximately $100-150), i just have 2 option, using new middle gaming game card or bottom line quadro in second condition, as the new bottom quadro is fx 580 and it cos +- $250 in my country.
some people said that gt 9800 is the best medium graphic card for 3d modelling comparing to other gaming card, some said that 2xx and 4xx such as 460, 470 and 480 is worse than gt 9800, in 3d max. it because nvdia wont support new gamer card for professional purpose. Although gt 9800 is far away if compared with bottom line quadro card.
1. i wondering, how much the difference between gt 9800 and fx 580 in 3dmax?
2. for appendix, i surf on one of
renderfarm site, than why they put gt 9800, not fx 580 as their entry box?

I suggest getting any form of the new quadros. Mainly because Nvidia chopped off the price 50% to combat the 68xx series launch.
which quadro? can u give me a link? ive searching and found that the discount just give for high end quadro, such as 4800. is it affect for 580 too?
