How to unshare my ram?

hey buddies ! i recently installed 4gb ddr2(2x2gb) ram to my asus commando mobo and approxiamately 1 gb is shared with my video memory so i only get 3 gb of usable ram .... can anyone help me out here so i can get 4 gb of usable ram ? i dont know how to do it at all

Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?
32-bit can only recognized around 3gb of ram...not all 4gb of your ram can be addressed by the system.
You want to use all 4gb, you have to use the 64bit version of Windows (or linux)

Do you have a discrete video card on a board with on-board graphics? You may need to make sure to enter bios and set the onboard video to disabled. That will allow the memory share to stop.
