Do UPS circuitry and components degrade overtime?

I am wondering, are my 5 and 8-yr old APC Backups UPS not up to par in terms of power protection anymore? I have swapped out old batteries for new ones, but I wonder if a UPS overall, degrades over time? Should I buy a new one or keep using them? My power need hasn't gone up much and they serve my current needs well. Thanks.

All components have a time life, test the UPS, if you get 90% of the rated specs you don't need change it.

How do I test the UPS? Unplug the power from the wall socket and see how long it can run? Won't that be a test of the battery?

Yes, that you test the battery. It would indirectly let you know if the UPS unit is working in general.

I suppose if you want to check the circuitry, you need a voltmeter and probably an oscilloscope, but this is beyond my knowledge.
