How to fix vista low fps

hey, I'm not sure if its my hardware, or maybe a virus. but my computer has been very slow lately. even the frame rate of games is terrrrible. like unbearable. any clue to how i can fix it? or maybe eliminate the virus causing the problem. thanks =] i have a compaq Presario (Sr2170nx) im running 2 gigs of ram vista home basic =\ 32 bit =\ and a 8500 GE force nividia graphics card. any help would be awesome =]

Try using Malware detection software. There are many solutions out there that do this. Try googling.
