New Video Card

Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards New Video Card

Planning on buying a new video card since the stuff I'm playing off of (GS8400!!!) is pretty..bad. I'm also planning on getting a new PSU. Budget for psu is ~100 and video card budget is ~200 USD. Thanks for the help!

Edit: As far as the video card goes performance-wise, I'm looking to just get good frames in Team Fortress 2/League of Legends/Fallout: New Vegas, and stuff like that at ~1280ish resolution.

Post the rest of the system specs so we may better assist.

Video card:
GIGABYTE GV-R685D5-1GD Radeon HD 6850 1GB = 179.99
-A very good perrformance for the price, and incase you want to upgrade your monitor to a higher resolution, it is still capable playing games at high settings.

PSU:
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS = 89.99
-Good reliable power supply.

Total = 269.98 @Newegg.com

Mobo: Asus P5P43TD
RAM: 4GB DDR3
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.0 Ghz)

As you can see, the GPU is a huge bottleneck. The 8400GS stepped in back when my 8800GT burnt out, and I've been too lazy to replace it ever since.

As far as relosution goes, the last spec was stated because I'm currently hooked up to my 42" HDTV. For lan parties, etc, I'll prolly be on my 1920x1280 monitor. But that doesn't matter too much for me as I'm rarely doing lan parties.

HD6850/70 and GTX460 1GB are good options.

Is the seasonic better then say a corsair psu? I'm not familar with the Seasonic brand and I always try to get the most reliable PSU I can, for obvious reasons.

I was originally looking at a 5770, but after seeing the frames for the 6850 in comparison, it seems worth the extra $20 or so bucks. The x460 is a tad out of my price range, sadly, but thank you for the suggestion regardless.

Any other suggestions?

The corsair is made by Seasonic! That Seasonic has 4 PCIe connectors while the TX650 only has 2.

^ yes he's right, also newest XFX psu line up is made by Seasonic. I'll get that psu he recommended, great value.
