I own a dell optiplex gx 50 with windows 98. every time it boots the following shows

DISKETTE DRIVE 0 SEEK FAILURE
PRIMARY HARD DISK DRIVE 0 NOT FOUND
PRIMARY HARD DISK DRIVE 1 NOT FOUND
SECONDARY HARD DISK DRIVE 0 NOT FOUND
SECONDARY HARD DISK DRIVE 1 NOT FOUND
STRIKE F1 KEY TO CONTINUE. F2 TO RUN THE SETUP UTILITY

I tried striking the f1 key but it only says INSERT BOOT DISK
could it be that the ribbon cables are faulty/loose/backwards
and how do i know if the ribbon cable is backwards?
please help!!! and happy holidays :)
