Computer is not recognize the sata DVD ROM

Hey, guys. The title of this thread is:
"Computer is not recognize the sata DVD ROM".

If rfnadeem does not have a hardware problem, he has some sort of motherboard/BIOS configuration problem.

One of the basic rules of troubleshooting is to check the simple sh..., err, stuff first. Pulling the drive and testing it in another computer is simpler, if not easier (the two are not the same), than trying to sort out a configuration problem with a questionable drive.

First Post from OP:
Hello,
Drive 2 not found:parallel ATA,PATA-0 (PRE IDE Master)

This leads me to believe it's actually a typo in the thread title, not a SATA drive at all. Which is why we are offering advice related to those devices.

When I googled the issue, I read multiple replies suggesting to switch the jumpers on one drive from cable select to either master or slave, even if there is only one device on the IDE. Also, if you had two IDE channels (supporting up to 4 devices) and you had 1 device on each channel, if one device was on cable select and the other was on master or slave, they both have to use the same convention to work ie CS-CS or m/s - m/s.
