Hello,
I have an HP slimline s3720 with an embedded GeForce 7100/nForce 630i. Unfortunately I spilled coffee on my motherboard and the display no longer works reliably.
The good news: I have an available pci express slot on the mother board. The bad news: the power suppy on the system is only rated at 160 watts.
I don't need great performance, mostly browsing and spreadsheets and found a GeForce 8400GS 512 MB PCI express card available for an affordable price.

My question is simply:
Any one know if my meager power supply will be sufficient for the new card ( I can certainly disable the onboard graphics)

The 8400GS is a very low power card that uses about 26 - 27w in 3D mode, so you should be OK.
