Graphic cards/games

I would like to know what will run the game Homeworld Cataclysm. My parents bought the cheapest Dell available in 1996-97 and they said it ran the game fine. It says it requires a ATI Radeon 7500 or GEFORCE 3 graphics card, I'm wondering if someone can give me a general rule of thumb so I know what graphics cards will support this game and which ones wont, will pretty much any newer computer, even a cheap one run this game or do I need to upgrade a new computer to run it? I just don't want to buy a new comp and have it not support this game. Please help.

So anything from say a ATI Radeon 5000ish to a Geforce 6000 or higher will run it?

Anything but the lowest 2 rows of that list. I ran it on GF 4MX440.
