What Ati 6K can be compared to a GTS 250 in performance not direct 11 or anything just in performance? So what Ati 6K can the gts 250 be compared too?

Companies rebrand because there is no need to introduce a new product but they need a image refresh, or because they're lazy and want to save money.

Nvidia re-branded like crazy with G80/92 as ATI wasn't outputting a clearly superior product, while AMD is doing it as the 5770 is extremely competitive as-is with a price cut.

However, there's also rumors that the 5770 wont be rebranded but just kept on the market.

Why do you ask though?

I believe people misinterpretted this "rebranding" thing. I interpretted it to be AMD will leave 5770 and 5750 alone until 2011. Just leave the name, leave the cards. And why not, OEM's love them, super popular, tons left on shelves. Then, in 2011, they will release a real replacement to them. Thats my opinion.

agreed, the 5770 seems to be the most popular mid range card still. Maybe prices will drop a little more, which will be good. You can compare performance of a gts250 to a 5750. The 5750 is a little bit faster in most games. The new 6xxx series so far is way above that in performance.

Hmmm. So Im assuming that the GTS 250 probally can be compared to the 6770 and 6750

do you need glasses? the link you just posted shows the 5750 beating the gts250 in most of those benchmarks

I think I like the Farcry 2 picture best. He says how the GTS250 beats the 5750 by .8FPS, then clearly forgets to point out thats at 1680x1050 only. If you look at 1920x1080, or 2560x1600 you'll see the 5750 win, and by more then .8FPS. (1.3 and .6) Frankly the two are so close in performance I consider them all a tie. The 5750 ~ GTS250 ~ 4850. The performance between all three cards is so close you'd never really be able to tell them apart. I also think asiankid should check his links first, as his clearly shows the 5750 having better performance.

Sum of FPS Benchmarks 1920x1200
with anti aliasing, 8AA, GTS250 146.90 5750 181.50

Percent normalized
all Resolutions GTS250 344.50 5750 358.20

Sum of FPS Benchmarks 1920x1200
with anti aliasing, 4AA GTS250 202.80 5750 221.30

Sum of FPS Benchmarks 1680x1050
with anti aliasing, GTS250 378.50 5750 386.50

And of course the power and temp numbers are better for the newer 5750 as well.

Unless you can get a really cheap 5750, id recommend against it. Id get one of these instead:

Not everyone has the money to buy GTX 460's :( I still have to to pay of mini loan i got from my dad when building my computer. Because I was a little short on cash. But once i finish paying off my loan ill probally save up for a 6850 or 6870 so by early next year i shall have a high end card. Also I dont even find it neccesary upgrading graphics cards for no reason. My gts 250 is powerful enough to play all todays games at max settings. But once it becomes a bit week Im definetly going to get a high end card. Though my case isnt huge its a midtower thermaltake so i cant have more than 9-10 inch card.

Last I looked at the 5750 it cost around $105 shipped. The only card thats around that price was the GTS450. Its a faster card, so its not a bad deal, but all those other cards you listed cost more. If you only have ~$100 to spend, it does no good looking at $140 cards.

Get a grip man!!!

For starters the GTS250 is old tech (g92), doesn't support DirectX 11, and is clearly a rubbish performer at higher resolutions.

And to the OP, a 6850/6870 isn't really a high end card. I WOULD wait for the 69XX series if I were you.

Both the 450 and 5750 are *clearly* better than the 250.

Anyway, I don't see the purpose of this thread. There are no 6000s out yet that are weak enough to be on par with the 250. If I could take a guess, I'd say it would be something like a 6600.

How about 6670.

yeh the 6670 would probably go against the gts250. will probably be priced under $100 and use just the pci-e slot for power (less then 75w max). the gts250 uses 150w max, which is quite alot compared to the 86w max of the 5750.

fact is, there is not 6670 yet and there may never be one, so your just guessing. The answer to the initial comment is there is no comparison between the gts250 to the currently available 6850 and 6870 as the ati cards are much faster. a 5750 is a good comparison but is slightly better overall. The gts450 is a little bit cheaper and probably better than the 5750 especially when overclocking and sli come into the picture. So your current equivelant gpus, in performance are gts450/gts250/ati5750.
