AMD Phenom II X4 970 BE After Market HS/Fan

Any input?

The setup is inside an old full-tower case which has a fan on the side.

I was looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... but i'm worried about dimensions especially with the side fan which takes up a bit of the depth. I mean I could take the fan off for extra space but not sure..... And no I dont know what kind of case it is, I suppose I could look for a marking or number, but the case itself is several years old now.

Any way, I was just looking for a "better than stock" air CPU cooler, because while I don't OC my Phenom II runs a bit too warm for comfort on CPU intensive games.

Until you take some measurements no one can make an educated recommendation.

The 212+ is the best, just measure the space to make sure it fits, there is no point in saying that you're worried it may not fit, measure the space available.

Yeah its a matter of finding a MM ruler or something of that sort - I just measure the space between the PSU and the CPU, and from the CPU to the side right?

Top of case one side to the other will do.

Glad I checked, I think the hyper 212+ is too deep. Because of my side-fan I only have 132 mm.

Any suggestions for that clearance?

I measured from the mainboard to the where the side fan started.

Screw the side fan, it's not important, remove it and if you think it makes that much of a difference, put it out side!

You think so? I was thinking of maybe doing that....

edit: Measured again, if I took off the fan unit I would have enough room.

Ok then buy the 212+ and remove your fan, if you want you can buy a fan grill and put the fan outside though that would be dumb, so get the 212+, it's $29 only. There still is a chance that the fan will fit but the fan doesn't make much of a difference anyways
