DELL Optiplex 780 for video editing

Your biggest benefit would be to add a discrete graphics card if you have a PCIe slot for it. I suggest HD5570 which is much more powerful than the integrated.

Thanks for your time.... I am having Windows 7, 64 bit operating system. 305 Wt power supply is pre-installed. Has been using Adobe CS3 Premier and After Effects in my other machine. Now Wants to upgrade to Adobe CS5 Premier and After Effects at 64 bit with this DELL 780.

I can spend like US $300. Hope I can get something within that range.

Things are getting clearer to me. The only question in my mined is do I really need that Hi-Fi graphic card??? I mean, I don't game really.... I only need the system to be able to work smoothly for video editing and 3D and 2D animation work. Do you really think I should go for such graphic cards???

I agree with the idea to upgrade to Core 2 Quad. I am still not sure if the there is enough room to fit a Dual Slot card on this board. I think I will have to consult a technical person who can suggest me after having a look at the board. But I have pasted below some technical information that I have taken from the Technical Guide of the system....

A discrete card will help with the editing it will free up system memory used by the integrated card. Cards like HD5570 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... or GT240 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... are single slot and are superior to the integrated when it comes to HD video editing.
