Best Cpu for my pc

what is the AMD Phenom II x6 2.8 what is the difference speed wise between this and x4 and is this the best cpu for my mother board if not could you tell me which is i have msi NF980-G65 i want the cpu best for gaming

The above page lists the supported CPU's.. As it shows, your motherboard supports the entire AM3 range.. The best gaming processor from the list IMO is the Phenom II X4 955 (C3).. The X6 CPU's do have two extra cores compared to the X4's but that does not translates to any increased gaming performance..

I agree with Emperus about the quad core vs. hex core issue. Hex cores are not as developed as quad cores, but in the near future, they will become the norm, much as quad and dual cores have.

I have to suggest the Phenom II X4 965 BE, as opposed to Emperus' choice. I have owned both and strongly prefer the 965 over the 955 any day.
