Got 12gb (3x4gb) ram but my MOBO is dual channel

I just got Corsair Vengeance 12 GB ( 3 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz from my friend as BD present but my MOBO is Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 which is dual-channel. What I suppose to deal with that, put just 2 sticks or put all 3 ( buy another stick is my future option)

my system is

i5 2500k
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3
PSU ocz 600w

Just use 2 sticks to insure dual channal. 8GB is plenty and you can alway get a 4th stick that mathces but 16Gb is a waste under most normal operations w/o adding a RAM-drive. Tom can expalin it better than me
