Okay so I'm running the following:

CiT 1008 Piano-black Midi-ATX case
Biostar TA770E AM2+ motherboard
AMD64 AthlonII 240 X2 2.8GHz AM3 processor
OCZ 2GB 800MHz DDR2 Dual-channel memory
160GB SATA2 WD Caviar Blue 3.5" 7200rpm
CiT 500w (Combined +12V amperage of 27, 2 rails)
Palit GeForce GTS450 1GB
Windows XP 32bit

I am looking at upgrading my memory and hard-disk drive from 160GB to 500. And RAM from 2 to 4 gigabytes... Is this a good investment? I will probably be upgrading to Windows 7 in Q1/Q2 2011.

Thanks,
Coy.Spook'sDust

Depends on what you use the system for; I'd be reluctant to spend more on DDR2 systems, and, normally, 160 GB is plenty, unless planning to store your entire DVD library to it. (However, hard drives under 1 TB are remarkably inexpensive these days, and you could probably build a speedy 1 TB RAID 0 if your mainboard supports it)

For the money, go ahead and grab 2 gb more, or even 1 gb to get to 3. Also you can get a drive to slave in as a second drive. I know what the previous poster said, but with the athlon II, if this is a custom rig, i would think you would be able to drop a quad in. That rig with 4 gb and a quad should do ok at gaming.
