Volume problem

My volume is not working. When I go to turn it up or check on mute it is gray. I am sure I must have done something. I am a novice and would appreciate plain simple help. ha

Which operating system are you running on your PC..? Try restarting the system and see if it solves the problem.. Re-install your audio drivers if necessary..

windows. I have tried restarting several times. I have tried to re ad .dll driver they say is missing this too has failed. I have a repairman coming Friday as for me I give up. Thank you for your advice though. It was appreciated

If you need any missing dll files, you can get them from www.dll-files.com .. Also check if the windows audio service is working.. You can find it from control panel.. Start -> control panel -> administrative tools -> component services -> services (local) -> windows audio service.. If it is in disabled or manual state then change it to automatic.. Click on apply and reboot..
