Sail'ho!

Might be a dumb question but ships are visible within a range of 200ly,
right? (default host setting) Or does that only count for results of the
sensor sweep mission?

I always mix those up, so it's not a dumb question. :) From the Phost
docs (host config option names may be slightly different):

ScanRange
Default: 300

This parameter indicates the maximum distance from a player's planets
and ships at which enemy ships are visible.

SensorRange
Default: 200

This parameter indicates the maximum distance from a player's ships at
which Sensor Sweep (and Bioscan) find enemy planets.

So the default is that your ships are visible if they come within 300
LY from an enemy ship or planet.
