Installed new fan computer shuts off during boot

Hello,installed a new fan with heat sink in a Gateway Laptop Computer, shuts down as it's trying to boot up?
Any suggestions.

Welcome to Tom's Hardware...

It sounds like either the heat sink isn't installed properly (fully seated) or fan isn't plugged into the CPUFAN post on the motherboard. This will cause the MOBO to shutdown to prevent a possible overheating issue.
